BETWEEN HALLUCINATION AND REALITY, WINTER 2024 FASHION IS 'PARASONNIA'

In the unknown, in an indefinite period of time, a feeling of paralysis; a total inability to move and speak. An altered perception of self between the material and the immaterial, between the real and the dream. Feeling in a cage, in the deep darkness of the night, without being able to distinguish concrete and imaginary: this is parasonnia. A disturbing state in which it feels like being trapped in a nightmare; a disturbance given by an excessive prolongation of the REM phase of sleep or its early onset.

MANINTOWN's new fashion editorial for winter 2024 captures this condition of totalizing immobility with a narrative immersed in darkness; shots poised between hallucination and reality in which the color black predominates. Leather corsets, jackets in metallic tones, netted sweaters, garments with unusual geometry describe a universe in which distinguishing the real from the dream is practically impossible. Discomfort, fear, inability to act and react; a disturbing state of diagnosed parasonnia.
